FAQs

Why not hire a full-time designer?
SHORT ANSWER

More expensive. More time-consuming. Longer commitment.

LONG ANSWER

The hiring process is time-consuming, and good designers are hard to find. Not to mention, the annual cost of a full-time senior-level designer will exceed $100,000, plus benefits. Aside from that, you may not always have enough work to keep them busy at all times, so you're stuck paying for time you aren't able to utilize. With the monthly plan, you can pause and resume your subscription as often as you need to ensure you're only paying for design services when you have work available.

‍

What about a design agency?
SHORT ANSWER

You'll be paying a lot more for the same or lesser quality of service.

LONG ANSWER

I've held roles as Creative Director and Lead Designer at four separate established design agencies. I've seen the good and the bad. For example, even though your communication runs through a Creative Director or Project Manager, a junior designer may be the resource handling your designs. Which means, things can get lost in translation, the quality of work might suffer, and the back-and-forth can take much longer.

‍

How quickly can I start with Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Right away, possibly even today!

LONG ANSWER

After subscribing, you'll be sent a welcome email. Shortly after, you'll be invited to a private Trello board where you can start logging design requests. As soon as you add your first request, I get to work! And you can expect your first update usually within 48 hours.

‍

How fast will I receive my designs from Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Usually, within 48 hours.

LONG ANSWER

On average, most requests are completed in just two-to-four days. However, more complex requests can take longer. In those instances, tasks may need to be broken up into phases. Throughout the duration of each request and each project, you can expect constant communication and transparency so there’s never any surprises and you're never disappointed.

‍

Is there a limit to the number of design requests I can make to Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Nope!

LONG ANSWER

There's no limit. Once subscribed, you're able to add as many design requests to your queue as you'd like. It's totally up to you how you want to prioritize each request. I'll start at the top and work my way through the next prioritized task one-by-one.

‍

What about larger projects like a full website redesign?
SHORT ANSWER

We'll break it into balanced phases.

LONG ANSWER

This is actually a very common request. For these types of situations, your project will be broken into separate "phased requests". The first request might be the homepage and sitemap. After that, the next request could be, for example, the blog section of the website.

Each project is unique, so I will help you navigate the best approach on how to break up the various requests.

‍

Why a "no-meetings" philosophy?
SHORT ANSWER

It maximizes efficiency for both you and me.

LONG ANSWER

While calls can be valuable, they can also take up a lot of time. For example, if there's a 20-minute call scheduled, you spend 20 minutes prior not wanting to start anything, then 20 minutes after following up and regaining focus. Instead, let's keep communication "async" with Trello, Slack, Loom or even email. This is what helps me (and you!) to be so efficient.

Meetings aren't completely off the table – exceptions can be considered in certain situations. (Sometimes nothing can beat one-to-one communication.)

‍

What if I don’t like my design from Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Impossible. πŸ˜‰

LONG ANSWER

Kidding aside, you have endless revisions. I'll continue to fine-tune each design task until we "nail it". Typically, this happens pretty quickly. Sometimes it can take a bit more time to get it just right. Rest assured, we'll get there!

‍

Are there any refunds at Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

No, but remember you are free to pause or cancel anytime.

LONG ANSWER

Due to the high quality nature of the work, and amount of time blocked out after you subscribe, there will be no refunds issued. Once a month is paid for, it cannot be reimbursed.

If you run out of design work, remember that you're welcome to pause your subscription. When you're ready, we can pick-up where we left off.

‍

What design software do you use at Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Figma.

LONG ANSWER

The majority of requests are designed using Figma. I also work fluently within the Adobe Creative Cloud suite if your project calls for it.

‍

Do take on website development at Design QB?
SHORT ANSWER

Absolutely!

LONG ANSWER

I really enjoy taking on web development projects. However, it won't be covered under your design subscription. It will be scoped out separately. If it's a larger web development engagement (that requires additional resources), I have strong partnerships within my network that we can leverage.

For the curious and tech-savvy folks, I prefer to build websites with Craft CMS.
